During our road trip we met up with some friends near Asheville, North Carolina that I knew from San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico, to go hiking on Black Balsam Knob, in the Pisgah National Forest near the Blue Ridge Parkway. It threatened rain the whole time, but when we got back to the car we found that we had gotten really lucky because the area around the trail head had obviously taken a storm. It was so much fun catching up with everyone and, also luckily, we had made to Asheville just in time to “help” other friends from San Cristobal inaugurate their new restaurant.
