Before I travel to Kunming, China I kind of expected it to be huge, charmless city without a lot to offer. Just a place to fly into, then move on. I am glad we decided to spend a few days looking around and exploring. There aren’t many famous sites or tourist attractions there, but it seems to be a pretty livable place. While we were wandering around we came across this scene in Grandview Park (or Daguanlou Park to the Chinese). Honestly, I was pretty lucky to capture the guys flying his kite with the giant reel, the distraught girl with the umbrella (I don’t think she really was in distress), the girl in overalls checking her smartphone on the dock and the girl on her phone walking in the water (she wasn’t really, it is an optical illusion created by the park’s designers). It all just kind of came together in some sort of weird post-impressionist kind of scene. I couldn’t have posed it better if I tried.
