Sunrise through South Window Arch
Arches National Park in eastern Utah, United States is known for containing over 2,000 natural sandstone arches including this one the “South Window Arch”. I had been retired less than a month in 2011 when I go out of bed, on a cold June morning in Moab, Utah to adventure out and make this image. I remember hearing about the crowds that can sometimes choke the park but early in the morning I had the place to myself.

I made this image on a Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro Tripod attached to a Manfrotto 322RC2 Joystick Head with a Canon EOS 7D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera and a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM SLR Lens. ISO 100, 10mm, f/22, 1/13 sec.
Perfect timing 🙂 It is so worth all of the time spent setting up the shot.
